The conference will focus on the impact of current and future drivers of skills acquisition, such as the emergence of new technologies, tools and approaches, as well as opportunities to identify potential skills gaps that need to be addressed.
Blower will present case studies from the IEA’s portfolio of projects, including topics such as insurance/reinsurance, environmental consultancy, retail supply chains, public sector policy and managing the natural and built environments. He will also reflect on the skills that industry increasingly requires to use large and diverse data sources effectively.
He says: “Data science is becoming increasingly important in informing decisions and there are huge opportunities provided by new data sources, including Open Data and satellite data.
At the same time our requirements regarding skills and training are changing and multi-disciplinary and multi-sector approaches are required to find practical solutions to problems.”
